Our founder Semajae has a strong passion for educating, creating, and empowering others through her work as a hair care professional. Driven by her aspiration to be a valuable resource, she aims to preserve traditions and generations of history and information.

Over the years, Semajae has developed various skills including communications, public speaking, performance, acting, singing, and dancing. She honed these talents by attending programs like the Black Eyed Peas Peapod Music and Arts Academy, and later refined her craft in the Get Lit Youth Poetry Program, through which she was featured in her first poetry book. Her artistic endeavors were even showcased in an art gallery during high school.

Semajae later co-founded a community organization with her best friend Itzel Hernandez — Providing Platforms LA — focused on music, poetry, art, recreational activities, and amplifying the voices of black and brown youth, all while pursuing her college education. She eventually graduated from El Camino College with high honors, earning a License in Barbering and Cosmetology.

As a passionate hair care professional, Semajae captivates audiences through evocative storytelling, writing, and performances at local open mics or networking events. She uses her words to shed light on significant social issues and to celebrate the beauty of human resilience. This dedication to empowerment extends beyond poetry. As a Natural Hair Care Professional she educates men and women on curly hair styling and encourages them to embrace their natural hair with confidence. Her expertise includes combing out matted hair, loc styling, providing guidance for natural hair weddings, and offering 1-on-1 education tailored to the unique needs of curly hair.
